Single-Pitch Rock Climbing

• What was the block? 

This osprey block was single pitch rock climbing. We learned about the different equipment and ways to climb using ropes. We went to multiple bouldering and climbing parks around town and developed our climbing skills. We worked with a company positioned in Colorado who leads climbing trips around the area. They gave us equipment and the skills to climb at multiple different areas around town. We then went to a bouldering park without them to work on our skills on  our owns. The end of the trip the class went on a trip to canyon lands national park where they learned how to climb in different areas.

• What did you get out of it?

I learned how to climb at a new level. I have been climbing a bunch before with my dad and knew all the basics but this trip taught me a lot about rope climbing that I had either forgotten or new information. I also learned a lot about many different parts of climbing when we did the independent lessons.
My lesson on belaying and the different gear you need taught me a lot about the safety and function of the gear used for belaying including, grigri, anchors, and belay commands. I also had a personal victory by climbing Three Finger Pocket at the bouldering area.
